What this tool makes
A QR code that opens a specific place, address or set of directions in Google Maps. It uses Google's documented Maps URLs format, so the link is a plain https://www.google.com/maps/... address — nothing proprietary, nothing that expires.
Place link or directions?
A place link drops the scanner on your location so they can see it, save it or start navigating themselves. A directions link starts routing immediately, and if you leave the starting point blank the phone uses wherever the person is standing. Directions suit "how to reach us" signage; place links suit business cards, packaging and window stickers.
Getting the address right
Paste the address exactly as Google Maps shows it, or use coordinates in latitude,longitude form for somewhere without a street address — a trailhead, a stall, a loading bay. Coordinates are unambiguous, which matters when several businesses share a building.
When to use a plain geo: code instead
A Google Maps link always opens Google Maps. If your audience uses Apple Maps or another app, the location QR code with the geo: option hands the coordinates to whatever map app the phone prefers. Use that for international or mixed audiences.
Privacy
The address you type is encoded on your device. We do not look it up, geocode it, or send it anywhere. The moment someone scans the finished code, their phone talks to Google — but nothing happens through us.
Limitations
A static code cannot be repointed, so use it for permanent locations rather than pop-ups. Very long addresses with plus codes and unit numbers make a denser code; coordinates are usually shorter and scan more easily.

Will this open Apple Maps on an iPhone?
No — a Google Maps link opens Google Maps, or the browser if the app is not installed. For an app-neutral code, use the Location tool and choose the geo: URI format.
Can I link to my business listing?
Yes. Search for your business in Google Maps, copy the address or place name it shows, and paste that as the query.
Do directions work without a starting point?
Yes. Leave the origin blank and the phone routes from the scanner's current location.
Does the code track how many people scan it?
No. These are static codes with no redirect in the middle, so there is nothing to count and nothing collecting data about the people who scan.
