QRBarcodeTools is built to protect your privacy. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use our tools.
Processing in your browser
All QR code and barcode generation, and all scanning, happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. The content you enter — URLs, Wi-Fi passwords, contact details, emails, phone numbers, SMS text, locations, calendar events, barcode numbers, uploaded images and generated code images — is never sent to our servers.
No uploads
Images you upload to add a logo or to scan are read into your browser's memory only and are not transmitted anywhere. They're released from memory when you remove them or leave the page.
Camera access
The scanner requests camera access only when you press the start button. Video frames are analyzed on your device and never uploaded, and the camera is fully released when you stop scanning or leave the page.
Local storage
We use your browser's local storage for a small number of conveniences, all of which stay on your device and are never transmitted:
- Theme preference — whether you chose light or dark.
- Recently used tools — a list of up to six tool names, so the search box can offer them again.
- Scan history — only if you switch it on. It is off by default. When enabled, the scanner stores up to 100 decoded values on this device so you can review them on the scan history page. Wi-Fi passwords are stripped out before an entry is written, and turning the setting off deletes everything already stored.
We never store Wi-Fi passwords, contact details, barcode numbers or any other content you type into a generator. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes all of the above permanently, because there is no server copy to restore from.
Files you upload
Logo images, images you scan and CSV files you use with the bulk tools are read into your browser's memory with the standard FileReader API. They are not uploaded, not copied to storage, and are released when you remove them or leave the page. Generated ZIP archives and PDFs are assembled on your device and downloaded directly.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-X3K5GN4PJ4) to understand which pages are visited and how many people use the site. It sets cookies in your browser and collects standard measurement data such as the page you viewed, an approximate location derived from your IP address, your device and browser type, and a randomly generated identifier. This data goes to Google as a third-party processor; see Google's privacy policy.
What analytics never sees: the content you type into any generator. We send no custom events, no form values and no URL parameters containing your data, and everything you encode stays in your browser. Analytics measures page views only.
You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, by blocking cookies for this site, or by using a browser or extension that blocks tracking scripts. The tools work exactly the same either way.
Advertising
This site carries advertising from Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-5369354018041666) to pay for hosting. Google and its partners may set cookies or read device identifiers in order to serve ads, cap how often you see the same one, and measure whether an ad worked. That is a third party observing this page, and it is the one exception to everything else on this policy.
What advertising never sees: the content you type into any generator. Links, Wi-Fi passwords, contact details and barcode numbers are encoded in your browser and never sent anywhere — not to us, not to Google, not to an advertiser. No generator value is ever put in a URL, an event or an ad request.
Where the ads go is constrained on purpose. The site itself keeps them off this page, the other policy pages, the error page and any page we have chosen not to index, and out of anything you print — a printed label sheet or a printed code carries no ad. Placement within a page is set in our AdSense account to keep ads out of the tool interface: not between form fields, not beside the preview, not next to a Download, Copy, Share or Print button, and no full-screen ad in front of a tool. If you ever see one somewhere it should not be, please tell us — that is a bug, not a policy.
You can control what Google shows you at My Ad Center, and read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Blocking ads or third-party cookies changes nothing about how the tools work.
Consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message from Google appears before advertising and analytics cookies are used, and records your choice. Choosing not to consent means you see non-personalised advertising instead — every tool on the site still works in full, because none of them depends on advertising, analytics or a cookie of any kind.
Everything else the pages load
Apart from the analytics measurement and the advertising described above, the pages load nothing from another company: no tag managers, no social widgets, no embedded fonts or icon services, no CDN. Every stylesheet, font and code-generation library is served from this domain, so nothing else can observe what you do here by virtue of being embedded in the page.
Third-party libraries
We use open-source libraries (for QR generation, barcode rendering and code scanning) that run in your browser. They do not send your data to third parties.
Your rights
We hold no account, no contact list and none of the content you encode, so there is nothing of that kind for us to access, correct or delete on your behalf. What is collected is the page-view measurement described under Analytics and the advertising cookies described under Advertising — both handled by Google, both preventable with the controls listed in those sections. You can also clear this site's data in your browser at any time to remove saved preferences and any local scan history.
Children's privacy
Our tools are general-purpose utilities and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
